4. Purify water means to make it cleaner and safer.
5. Three techniques to purify water are oil-water filtration, sand filtration, and charcoal adsorption and filtration.
6. In the first step, oil-water filtration, oil was removed from the water. In the second step, sand filtration, it removed any solid particles remaining in the water. In the last step, charcoal adsorption and filtration, any other impurities left in it were removed with the charcoal and the filter paper.
7. A. The reason the filtration could not convert seawater to drinking water is because the  particles of salt were small that they could not be easily filtered out, except by distillation.
    B. Additional purification steps that would be needed would be distillation of the purified water so that the water and salt could be separated.
